CEFR Word Level Lookup provides English word difficulty assessment based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We aggregate data from multiple authoritative sources including Cambridge Dictionary, Oxford Learner's Dictionary, Word Frequency Analysis, and British Council word lists.

3. User Responsibilities

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful or prohibited purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
  • Use automated systems to access the Service excessively
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Submit inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law

Content Guidelines

When using our word lookup service:

  • Submit only legitimate English words for educational purposes
  • Do not attempt to lookup inappropriate or offensive content
  • Respect the educational nature of the service

4. Premium Memberships

Subscription Plans

  • Basic ($5/year): Support the site with contributor badge
  • Student ($25/year): Quarterly vocabulary lists with usage examples
  • Educator ($50/year): All Student benefits plus ELT pedagogy newsletters

Billing and Cancellation

  • All subscriptions are billed annually and auto-renew
  • You can cancel anytime through your Stripe customer portal
  • Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No refunds for partial billing periods
  • Premium benefits continue until subscription expires

5. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by CEFR Word Level Lookup and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Third-Party Content

We aggregate data from third-party sources (Cambridge Dictionary, Oxford Dictionary, etc.) for educational purposes. All third-party content remains the property of its respective owners.

6. Disclaimers

Educational Purpose

Our CEFR level assessments are for educational guidance only. Different sources may provide varying assessments, and our consensus algorithm aims to provide helpful estimates.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services (Stripe, SendGrid, dictionary sources) that may affect service availability. We are not responsible for third-party service interruptions.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall CEFR Word Level Lookup be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Service.

8. Affiliate Disclosure

Important Disclosure: Our website contains affiliate links for Vanquis Bank credit cards, Zilch payment services, and Wowcher deals. We may receive compensation when you click these links or make purchases. This helps support our free educational service. Our editorial content is not influenced by these partnerships.

9. Privacy
